Dark Silence / Down To Nothing

DARK SILENCE ... By Carroll Absolom Bryant

The pain was still there
Blood spilled from the pores of my soul
My mother's voice echoed through the cold wind

(But it was summer)

I searched for meaning
Standing in a puddle of confusion
My feet were wet from my heart's tears
Death was my shadow by the moons light

(The stars were falling)

There were no proud or profound words
Only the silence of darkness
My skin felt like stone as I touched my face

(Thoughts burned my head)

And I closed my eyes to sleep for the rest of my life
I coward to my fear

(My fear wasn't death)

I ran towards the silence of the darkness

(My fear was life)

And so was my pain

DOWN TO NOTHING ... By Carroll Absolom Bryant

Every morning I awoke to another day

"God, I hope that the world is asleep if not, I just hope it stays out of my way"

What was I thinking?
There is this thing they call life
But I was refusing to live
Wishing that I could hold my breath forever
Repelling the sun's light
I didn't want to believe in it
Green light, red light, yellow light and so
I was prepared to leave with nowhere to go

I was down to nothing, you know it's true
Down to nothing
I was down to nothing with nothing to lose
Down to nothing
And there I was waiting for it all to end
When suddenly it hit me that it already did
And I was down to nothing

What's to believe in, if by chance
You don't even believe in yourself?
The pain is your heaven
The words are your weapon
The heart is your living hell

What was I thinking?
There is this thing they call love
But I was refusing to give
Dreaming that I could just fly away
Stabbing my own back, using my own blade
Morning time, noon time, midnight and then
I was prepared to go through it again

I was down to nothing, you know it's true
Down to nothing
I was down to nothing with nothing to prove
Down to nothing
And there I was wanting it all to end
When suddenly I realized that it already did
And I was down to nothing

Here, there, everywhere and too blind to see
Believing that everything was just a conspiracy
And I was down to nothing
Down to nothing

I was down to nothing, you know it's true
Down to nothing
I was down to nothing with nothing to do
Down to nothing

And there I was looking forward to the end
Much to my surprise, it already did
And I was down to nothing
