The Banshee (A Poem)

THE BANSHEE By Carroll Bryant

Leave her alone
And she’ll leave you alone
For no good could ever come
From loving the banshee

Listen to her screams
Wailing endlessly
Silently she will be
Nothing but a banshee

She drifts in the night under the moon
This is her mood
Pain is her food

She searches the night for the taste of the nectar
This is her time
Lost soul and mind

Leave her alone
And she’ll leave you alone
For no good could ever come
From loving the banshee

Listen to her screams
Wailing endlessly
Silently she will be
Nothing but a banshee

She watches it all from the edge of a shadow
Those are her eyes
A helpless demise

She waits for nothing, nothing at all
That is her life
There’s no compromise

Leave her alone
And she’ll leave you alone
For no good could ever come
From loving the banshee

Listen to her screams
Wailing endlessly
Silently she will be
Nothing but a banshee

And forever to be nothing to see
Forever to be nothing but a banshee
